I saw this on Twitter earlier.... All I could think was “gee, Im glad that asshole got arrested if it was for good motive, but hell... I should really pay more attention to my online class... Oh a cat video!”
He'll be pardoned after the election, I guess... Bannon is not as presentable as he was prior to joining the administration

They're federal charges. Which would be serious if your best pal weren't the POTUS.
![]() 08/20/2020 at 10:49 |

That’s one approach - commit hella crimes. They’ll never get you for all of them. And even if you get charged for one or two, its still a good sentencing deal.

Wish I could unsee that.

They’ve had a bit of a falling out though (or rather Kushner wanted him gone, and Trump sided with him ). I wouldn’t count on a pardon, unless Trump is worried Bannon has dirt on him that he needs to keep quiet.

Personally I still don’t see why they needed to raise money for a wall that our super genius mega- negotiator president promised us he’d get Mexico to pay for. I’m sure we’ll be getting their check any day now...

He’s getting pardoned anyway.

I’m pretty sure he does.

Oh, you can be sure Trump will be handing out pardons like candy these last few months... Ghislaine?
Maybe he’ll pardon his buddy Clinton while he’s at it, too.
Guess you can’t pardon someone for something they haven’t been charged with yet, though.
![]() 08/20/2020 at 11:05 |
|
Certainly possible, just saying that if he gets a pardon, it won’t be because they are friends. Bannon’s more in the Michael Cohen category these days.
![]() 08/20/2020 at 11:09 |

The only way tRump can pardon him is by a continued bout of ‘Merica stupidity by giving him a 2nd term. The legal process to convict and sentence Bannon won’t happen before Inauguration day.

PBS’s Frontline did an episode, “bannon’s war” or something like that. shows his motivation. He reads and studies voraciously. Bue he also firmly believes his conclusions must be the best ones because he did the work and everyone else is a cynic if they say otherwise because they didn’t do the work or they would have had the same conclusions. I get that, but when disregarding any fairness and value and rules to make your conclusion happen, then there is a problem. He is a operative/backer to further his ideas. When he sees a way to get his ideas done, because he can’t be president himself, he will back someone who he feels can.
Palin, he strongly backed. Imploded.
Trump, he strongly backed again. We see how that went for him....
He has dirt. He has all the dirts. He will make a deal, if that deal falls within the current presidency.

By it, Ford granted to Richard Nixon , his predecessor, a full and unconditional pardon for any crimes that he might have committed against the United States as president.

So you're assuming that Biden would pardon Bannon?
![]() 08/20/2020 at 11:39 |

I’m thinking I remember someone getting pardoned one time when they’d not yet been convicted.

Yeah, but it doesn’t make sense. As I replied to Michael, are you assuming Biden will pardon Bannon?
Bannon isn’t a president that resigned in disgrace, only to have his former VP who is now president, to pardon him “ for the good of the country”.
If that were the case, Paul Manafort and Michael Cohen would have never gone to prison.

RE: the impending pardons, don’t these people have to be tried, convicted and sentenced before Trump can inevitably pardon them? Is that likely before January 2021?

All I was pointing out was that the trial and conviction does not have to come before the pardon...

We need state charges.
Waiting for the most corrupt president ever to either say he never knew Bannon, or that it is all a witch hunt. Yet another one of those “best people”, so much winning.
Anyone who still supports this regime is either delusional or deceptive, take your pick.

I question the veracity of those returns even when they are released - if one is committing malfeasance, they don’t declare it on their taxes. But it’ll be amusing to see what he paid.
His “under audit” lie is one of the most annoying, as being under audit does not prohibit such documents.

Ford pardoned Nixon for things he hadn’t been charged with.
![]() 08/20/2020 at 12:47 |

Not at all. See the very broad pardon Ford granted Nixon. But accepting the pardon is considered an admission of guilt, which is why Trump waited for Stone to be convicted and the commuted his sentence rather than pardoning him, it allows S tone to continue his appeal to try to clear his name.

My mind is boggled by what he gets away with. And people still support him.

I have no problem with her. She’s definitely not afraid to back down, let’s see if they have that same fight in about 6 weeks, when the real dirt will be in the air. If they don’t, they might regret it. There’s no do-over here, a second term for the destructors will create damage that will last for generations.

I personally think Ford’s pardon of Nixon was an appropriate judgment call for Ford to make. Nixon may have been a crook, but he was also a real president and resignation was punishment enough. IMO.
No, I have no expectation of a President Biden pardoning any of Trump’s ilk.

You know what we need. A single page (or in this case a few) infographic of all the 100% confirmed terrible associated with this president. Not even the stuff we all know but don’t have convictions on. Just the actual people serving actual time, why and their ties to the president.

I think Biden has played a smart game thus far, keeping his power dry. Trump has chosen to go after Hunter which, he must realize, throws open the gate for Dems to go after Trump’s own spawn. I think they threw and landed some good punches so far at the convention and you have to know that they are now under Trump’s skin. We knew it when he made his nasty response to Michelle Obama.

This only works if you have money. Ask Ms. Harris what happens to poor people when they’re arrested.

So much winning. I’ve been sitting here thinking about how little , for me, any of this has to do with politics or policy. It has for me to do with obdurate mendacity, anti-intellectualism, and downright hatefulness. There’s a man I was corresponding with in Tennessee, an old school jalop guy. Yes, he’s an R and yes, he’s a big gun guy, and yes, I’d expect colorful commentary. But when COVID broke out, he complained about having a cold and I said I hoped he didn’t wake up speaking Italian. Or Chinese. His response? “As long as I don’t wake up speaking Democrat ! ” I think that is a deeply telling response.

That might be a good ploy - play nice, then drop the bomb at just the right time. However, it has to happen - playing nice for the entire campaign will not produce a victory, in my opinion anyway.
There’s so much dirt about 45's feckless devilspawn, I suspect that’s the reason Hunter has barely been mentioned, while not too long ago he was seen as some kind of smoking gun. The regime knows they’ll be slaughtered if they pursue that avenue. When all this is over, I hope the entire clan spends the rest of their days behind bars, with their empire broken up forever.
That recent response was particularly unhinged - I wonder if his medical staff is giving him extra treatments so he doesn’t explode.

Well shit.
![]() 08/20/2020 at 13:36 |

Gotcha,
Yeah from what I read, the president is basically allowing the convictions then commuting the sentence, so that the person doesn’t have to admit guilt to accept the pardon, and can still appeal to “clear their name”
So from that sense, time is running out because the conviction won’t come before February, I’m sure.
![]() 08/20/2020 at 13:40 |

I’m not much worried about seeing them behind bars, just knowing how much of their existence -- and wealth -- must be expended to line lawyers’ pockets will be enough for me. DJT will never have a moment’s rest and it may just shorten his days. I won’t stoop to wishing for his demise, but I might be tempted to urinate on his grave. Then again, I wouldn’t want to waste the piss.
![]() 08/20/2020 at 13:52 |
|
If there’s any justice in the world, the ill-gotten empire will be destroyed.
DJT will be pursued until his final days - not sure if he thought about that when he got into this. I also wonder how long his trophy will stick around when this is all over.
Don’t get carried away, some people have odd fetishes :)

Exactly one month after Nixon announced his resignation, Ford issued the former president a “full, free and absolute” pardon for any crimes he committed while in office.
He was the new president at the time, so he was basically telling any prosecutor they were wasting their time. I can’t imagine a president can actually pardon a person for any crime, known or unknown, and it’s an interesting point about pardoning before a conviction (how that would stand up to a Supreme Court challenge).
The pardon power of the President applies only to convictions under federal law .

It’s working out of fear. The big picture puts 25% o f votes under one persons control. They vote and believe for anything he says. This drives the future viability of not just any senator/congressmen/staff-member who must tow the line or have a ruinous outcome to their career, but also drives what the conservative media must also report, or loose the confidence of those 25% and therefore lost advertising revenue and they have to fight for the flooded market of all other media. So if he says smurfs live on the moon, they better damn well repeat it! Or the opinion show will loose viewers and the host loses their job. Or he will do what he has done in the past multiple times, and that is to cut off your head and dump your body in the snow from the moving train...HIS train now, since your no longer on it, and stopping it is for pussies!
Thats the big picture. If you are not with his 25%, then your a commie ultra liberal snowflake. No in between in this world.
I refuse to abdicate my ability to think and make decisions to the talking heats on TV, Radio, The leadership itself.

I correspond quite a bit with Fintail where we have very similar views but our approaches are very different and, I would argue, complimentary. But one of the things I keep wondering aloud about is how many people will be crying, We never knew him! when Mr. Trump is no longer in office.
